Hat-tricks in ODI

A hat-trick is when a bowler takes wickets with three consecutive deliveries. On 20 September 1982 at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad - Pakistan bowler Jalal-ud-Din took first hat-trick in a one-day international (ODI) cricket, removed Rod Marsh, Bruce Yardley and Geoff Lawson with the last three balls of his seventh over.

The only bowler to have taken three hat-tricks in ODI career is Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka, while three other bowlers Pakistani bowlers Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq and Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas taking two hat-tricks in their One Day International career.

Malinga only bowlers picked up four wickets in four consecutive delivery against South Africa. Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas only bowler took hat-trick in first three delivery against Bangaldesh.
