The cricket World Twenty20 points table provides the latest updated information on total points of various T20 teams after every match. The T20 WC 2012 points tally also highlights the standing, run rate, wins and loss of each match played in Sri Lanka.
Rules and regulations of the points table
During the group stage and Super Eight, points are awarded to the teams as follows:
Winner 2 points
No result 1 point
Loser 0 points
In case of a tie in all stages of the tournament, a Super Over decides the winner.
Within each group (both group stage & Super Eight stage), teams are ranked against each other based on the following criteria:
Higher number of points
If equal, higher number of wins
If still equal, higher net run rate
If still equal, lower bowling strike rate
If still equal, result of head to head meeting.
Super 8s
The Super 8s stage consists of the top two teams from each group of the group stage. The teams are split into two groups, Groups E and F. Group E will consist of the top seed from Groups A and C, and the second seed of groups B and D. Group F will consist of the top seed from Groups B and D, and the second seed of groups A and C.
