South Africa played four Tests, five one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches during the 72-day India tour in September-December 2015. First time India and South Africa have played a four match Test series in India and T20I as well and It was the South Africa's longest trip to India. Before this tour only four Test series was held in South Africa in 1992/93, the host won by 1-0.
From with this series, all bilateral tours between India and South Africa was called the Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela series, with the teams playing for the Freedom Trophy. India clinch first Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela tropy by 3-0, Bangalore Test washes out due to heavy rain.
