Pune: All eyes were on Zaheer Khan as he made a comeback for Mumbai in the Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament game against Baroda.
The left-arm pacer, trying to get back into the India team after his shoulder surgery, didn’t appear to be at his best going by momentum in his run-up and delivery stride. But once he put more effort on his leap and shoulder, Yusuf Pathan (24 off 10) had to return back to the pavilion in a match which Mumbai won by 32 runs.
The star for Mumbai was 25-year-old Paul Valthaty, who has played just one domestic One-dayer and two IPL matches for Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals and got into the team only after three players were ruled out with injuries.
The opener top scored with 70 runs, got a wicket with his brand of medium-pace stuff and took a catch on the opening day of the tournament at Deccan Gymkhana on Tuesday.
Put in to bat, Mumbai scored 190-9 before restricting Baroda to 158-8. Baroda missed Irfan Pathan’s services.
