Mumbai: India batsman Yuvraj Singh has been named in India's squad for the ICC World Twenty20 next month in Sri Lanka, marking a successful return to cricket after a battle with cancer.
VVS Laxman, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been named in the Test squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand begins from August 23.
Yuvraj will also be playing two T20 games against New Zealand at home on September 8 and 11.
Officially, Yuvraj's fitness report was tabled at the selection meeting and the selectors picked him only after an all-clear on this front.
After his treatment, Yuvraj has been working out at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and has also played a few practice matches recently. NCA sources said he has done enough to dispel any doubts about whether he has adequate stamina.
Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also selected for shotest format of the cricket will be played in Sri Lanka from September 18 to October 7.
The selectors picked Cheteshwar Pujara for the Test series against New Zealand. VVS laxman who was seen struggling with the willow during the Australia tour also managed to retain his place in the Test squad.
