Lahore: As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials and chairman of the selection board meet on Tuesday to select the team for the forthcoming Australian tour, the fate of former captain Younis Khan is still unclear.
Khan, who had opted out of the on-going New Zealand Test series citing needing rest, has also decided against playing in the domestic tournament, which is the prime reason why the selection board is unlikely to consider his name for the challenging assignment Down Under.
Sources said Khan has not officially informed the PCB about his availability, despite having told the media that he was looking forward for the Oz tour.
The News quoted insiders, as saying that Khan wants to extend his break from international cricket, and is currently out of the country on a private visit.
According to sources privy to the issue, the selectors have already taken note from stand-in captain Mohammad Yousuf, and coach Intikhab Alam on the selection procedure.
