Ahmedabad: Chanaka Welegedara and Muttiah Muralitharan made short work of India's lower order resistance as the hosts ended their first innings on 426 on the second day of the first Test at Motera here on Tuesday.
Welegedara, who reduced India to 32-4 in the first session, ended Rahul Dravid's stay on his overnight score of 177 before Muralitharan cleaned up the tail after India resumed day two on 385-6.
Welegedara's figures read an impressive 4-87 while Muralitharan had 3-97 against his name.
Harbhajan Singh (22), Zaheer Khan (12) and Ishant Sharma (0) were the wickets to fall after Dravid went for 177.
