Viru Advised to Rest Shoulder Till Mid September

New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, whose injured shoulder was operated on in England in June, might miss the tri-series in Sri Lanka since he has been advised rest till September 17.

The tri-series, also featuring New Zealand, starts from September 8. Sehwag had sustained the injury during Team Delhi's semi-final match during the IPL in South Africa, following which he missed the Twenty20 World Cup and the series against West Indies.

Meanwhile, the BCCI finally broke its silence on pacer Zaheer Khan's surgery in South Africa. In a statement, BCCI secretary N Srinivasann said, 'Zaheer Khan had an arthroscopic labral repair in his left shoulder on July 13, done by the Johannesburg-based Dr Mark Ferguson. Zaheer is undergoing rehabilitation in South Africa and is recovering very well. He is expected to return to international cricket by the end of this year.'
