Sydney: Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will join compatriot Brendon McCullum at the Brisbane Heat in Australian cricket's Twenty20 Big Bash league next summer.
Brisbane coach Darren Lehmann on Tuesday confirmed the signing of the 32-year-old Vettori as the Heat's second international player. Vettori recently retired from Twenty20 internationals in which he took 35 wickets from 28 games at an average of 16.57.
Lehmann said he was thrilled to add such an experienced and skilful player to the Brisbane lineup. He said Vettori is "obviously a leader, which is what you want, and to call on that experience and skill will be vital for us."
The Big Bash begins on Dec. 30.
