Bangalore: An all-India umpires seminar, a joint initiative by Cricket Australia (CA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will begin on Thursday at the National Cricket Academy.
Around 100 Ranji Trophy and National Panel umpires from all over the country will participate in the August 6-12 seminar which will deal comprehensively on various topics related to the job. The organisers have roped in reputed ICC Elite Panel member Simon Taufel as one of the instructors.
Besides Taufel, CA’s Global Development Manager Ross Turner, umpire educator Dennis Burns and Ian Lock have also arrived to share their knowledge.
"The BCCI has identified around 30 umpires for an exclusive three-day course beginning on Thursday. The rest of the umpires will be divided into two batches for training which follows the course," said Stanley Saldana, the supervisor of the event.
