Dhaka: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of next month's one-day series against New Zealand after undergoing wrist surgery, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Monday.
Left-handed opener Shahriar Nafees returned to the one-day squad after two years out for the five-match series.
"Tamim underwent successful surgery to remove bone fragments from the base of his left third metacarpal in Melbourne, Australia on Monday afternoon," the BCB said in a statement.
Veteran batsman and former captain Mohammad Ashraful was omitted from the squad for the series beginning on Oct. 5.
New Zealand are scheduled to play five one-dayers against their hosts, all at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
