Hobart: Shaun Tait and David Warner, two of Australia's Twenty20 specialists, continued the team's unbeaten summer by setting up a 38-run thrashing of West Indies in Hobart.
Brilliant performance by the Aussies! After electing to bat, the openers came out hard on the West Indian bowlers and raced to 83 in the 8th over. But, Watson's wicket combined with disciplined bowling led to a collapse and Australia were losing steam.
Brad Haddin, played a composite yet quickfire innings of an unbeaten 37 from 16 balls and saw his team through to a competitive 179 for eight in 20 overs.
In reply, West Indies never looked in the chase after losing skipper Gayle in the second over and thanks to a late-innings 73-run stand for the seventh wicket between Morton and Ramdin, they managed to reach 141/8.
For Australia Tait and Nannes ripped through the side with 3 wickets apiece.
Shaun Tait has been named the man-of-the-match for his fiery 3-30 in 4 overs. Australia secure a 1-0 lead in this T20I series. The teams now head to Sydney for the second and final T20I and also, the final match of the Austalian summer. That game is on Tuesday, the 23rd of February, 2010 at 0835 GMT
