Sri Lanka Seal Biggest Win Over Pakistan

Galle: Sri Lanka wrapped up the first Test on day 4 to seal a 209 run victory, their biggest ever against Pakistan. The visitors were dismissed for 300 chasing a total of 510.

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 209 runs in the first Test in Galle on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Pakistan, set a tough victory target of 510, were bowled out for 300 in their second innings just before stumps on the fourth day at the Galle International Stadium.

Off-spinner Suraj Randiv, who claimed four wickets in the first innings, took three more in the second to fashion Sri Lanka's emphatic win.

Pakistan's innings revolved around a 151-run stand for the fifth wicket between Younis Khan (87) and Asad Shafiq (80), before both fell on either side of the tea interval.

The second Test starts at the Sinhalese sports club in Colombo on June 30.

Kumar Sangakkara is the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 199 in first inning.

That doesn't absolve Pakistan of the lack of fight they showed in the first innings, and the way the top order again failed in the second. Having said that, to last 114 overs in the fourth innings is an achievement in itself

Sri Lanka's big three batsmen came good in the first innings, and Pakistan crumbled against the weight of runs, and quality bowling led by Kulasekara and Herath
