South Africa v England, 2nd ODI, Centurion

SA vs Eng 2nd ODI - Kallis Absence Evens the Scales

Centurion: This is now a four-match series after the abandonment at the Wanderers left everyone kicking their heels. With the first game being washed out without a ball being bowled, the thrashing England received in the last T20, a week ago, will be fresh in their minds as they head back to Centurion.

South Africa, having plundered the English bowling at almost 12 runs an over in the 2nd T20 game, come into the game with a settled look to their line-up. They would look to carry the momentum gained from the thrashing they lashed out to the English side.

JP Duminy's international numbers are already impressive and an ODI average of 37.57 indicates his talent. However, against England, he has struggled to make a mark with 88 runs in six matches with a best of 24.

England's injury situation remains unchanged with Stuart Broad (shoulder) and Graeme Swann (side) already ruled out of the match, but the delayed start to the series will have helped Paul Collingwood and James Anderson recover from their niggles.

The return of Graham Onions, the likely return of James Anderson and the emergence of Luke Wright should give the English the belief that they can withstand the South African onslaught.

James Anderson gets his turn to bat, Anderson will use the Mongoose bat which made much fanfare last season. It has a shorter blade and longer handle - meaning, in theory, better striking power and Jimmy has got his hands on one. Without being too harsh, it might be a little wasted.

Teams

South Africa: The significant development in the last couple of days has been the news of Jacques Kallis' absence from the series due to a rib fracture, so his partnership with Graeme Smith will be a non-starter

Squad (likely): Graeme Smith (capt), Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Alviro Petersen, Mark Boucher (wk), Albie Morkel, Ryan McLaren, Charl Langeveldt, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Dale Steyn.

England: The skipper Andrew Strauss has looked solid and compact so far in the games that he has played. Jonathan Trott, looks to be the man that England would look up to after Kevin Pietersen in the middle order as he has displayed solidity with the willow so far.

Squad (likely): Andrew Strauss (capt), Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior (wk), Luke Wright, Tim Bresnan, James Tredwell, Graham Onions, James Anderson.

Stats and trivia
