Wellington: The international future of troubled batsman Jesse Ryder is in doubt after he chose not to seek a new contract with New Zealand Cricket to concentrate on personal health and fitness goals.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said the decision not to take up a contract for the 2012-2013 season was made by Ryder in consultation with his management and the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association.
Ryder announced the decision on Wednesday when he met NZC officials as part of his annual player review.
White said "Jesse wants to concentrate on his personal goals without the media pressures, commercial pressures and other demands associated with being a contracted player."
