Brisbane: Jesse Ryder hit 16 sixes in a whirlwind knock of 175, equalling the record for sixes in a first class innings and lifting New Zealand to 467-6 before its four-day tour match against Australia A ended in a draw on Sunday.
Ryder also hit 11 fours in his aggressive 137-ball innings for New Zealand, which batted throughout the final day as batting practice ahead of the first Test against Australia, starting in Brisbane on Thursday.
Ryder's 16 sixes equalled the record for a first class innings shared by Australia's Andrew Symonds and England's Graham Napier.
New Zealand captain Ross Taylor made 138 from 171 balls with seven sixes and 11 fours and Australian-born Dean Brownlie made 53 not out, sharing a stand of 122 off 108 balls with Ryder for the fifth wicket.
Australia A was largely content to rest its frontline seamers - Ben Cutting, Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson - who have all been selected in the injury-hit Australia squad for the first Test at the Gabba.
Some of the bowling duties fell on Sunday to batsmen Nic Maddinson, Ed Cowan and new test opener David Warner who all suffered at Ryder's hands. Cowan conceded 28 runs in one over as Ryder struck four sixes and a four.
Off-spinner Michael Beer, who took 1-117 off 23 overs, and Steve Smith, who took 0-95 off 16, also failed to contain Ryder.
New Zealand was able to use the match at Allan Border Field - its only warmup ahead of the first Test - as a useful shakedown for both batsmen and bowlers.
It made 423 in its first innings, bowled out Australia A for 395, then dominated the bowlers again in its second innings.
