Vadodara: Rest of India were 99 for one in their second innings on the stumps second day in the Irani Cup match against Ranji Trophy champions Delhi at the IPCL Stadium here on Thursday and total led including 75 first inning is 174. S Badrinath (33) and Rahul Dravid (34) on crease at stump.
Opener Wasim Jaffer was batting on 17 while Rahul Dravid was on 11 when the teams went in for tea with Rest leading by 113 runs with all second innings wickets intact. After team Jaffer caught by Chopra on Sangwan bowling at 21 runs.
Earlier, Munaf Patel's four-wicket haul helped Rest of India restrict Delhi to 177 all out to obtain a healthy first innings lead of 75 runs in a low-scoring match. Among the ROI bowlers Munaf took 4-31 while Zaheer Khan (2-45), Anil Kumble (2-34) and Harbhajan Singh (2-32) shared the remaining six wickets.
Delhi, who was on 21 for no loss when play ended on first day, could add just 156 runs and all out at 177, which has put the Rest team, led by Indian Test skipper Anil Kumble, in a sound position.
Earlier, Munaf struck three quick blows before lunch to reduce Delhi to 131-5. First to go after lunch was Rajat Bhatia, who was trapped leg before the wicket by Zaheer Khan for 17 off 44 balls after he had added 36 runs off 102 balls for the sixth wicket with wicketkeeper Puneet Bisht.
