New Delhi: The Indian Premier League's (IPL) governing council is likely to be reconstituted during the BCCI AGM on Wednesday. With the Board deciding to do away with 13 members in the GC, one of the three former India captains, who was part of the current panel is set to face the axe.
The new GC is likely to have a chairman and five members appointed by the Board besides two former cricketers of repute. The office-bearers of the Board would be ex-officio members of the GC.
Sources said that among the three cricketers, who are a part of the incumbent GC, former India captain Ravi Shastri is set to continue. There would be no change in the cricketers' fee of Rs one crore, though.
Among the five members appointed by the Board, senior functionaries like Arun Jaitley, Chirayu Amin and Rajeev Shukla are likely to be nominated as the GC members. Only two slots are vacant and sources said that one each from north zone and east zone will make the. Former BCCI boss IS Bindra could be axed though for his close proximity with Modi.
The New Panel
The BCCI on Tuesday nominated its secretary N Srinivasan for the president-elect's post. He is slated to take over from current BCCI boss Shashank Manohar next year.
The Board also announced the names of the vice-presidents who will remain in office for another year. They are:
Sanjay Jagdale and MP Pandove would continue as the joint-secretary and treasurer.
