Vadodara: Rajasthan created history by becoming the first team from Plate group to claim the Ranji Trophy title after taking a vital first innings lead of 33 runs over Baroda as their match ended in a stalemate.
Baroda, chasing a target of 375 runs on the fifth and final day, finished their second innings at 28/4 in 14 overs when both captains decided to call off the days' play.
Earlier in the day, resuming their overnight score 201/4, Rajasthan scored 341 runs in the second innings with the help of Ashok Maneria's ton, who had signed up with Rajasthan Royals for IPL 4 earlier this week.
At stumps on the penultimate day's play of the five-day match, Rajasthan had taken an overall lead of 234 runs over the home team with six wickets in hand.
Rajasthan, who reached Ranji final in 36 years, made 394 in the first innings.
After dismissing Baroda for 361 in the first innings, Rajasthan, however, got off to a disastrous start in their second essay losing their openers Aakash Chopra (5) and Vineet Saxena for six runs. They were soon reduced to 11 for three after skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar (1) edged a catch to Connor Williams off Murtuja Vahora.
