Islamabad: Hundreds of protesters in the southern port city of Karachi have gathered to demand the resignation of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt after a string of poor performances by the national team.
The protesters - mostly youths from several Karachi cricket clubs - burned an effigy of Butt along with dozens of cricket bats on Friday.
Pakistan has lost five consecutive One-day international series - twice to Sri Lanka and Australia and once against New Zealand.
In recent Test matches, the record is even poorer with the team winning just one of the last six, losing four.
Last month, a leading parliamentarian had called on the patron of the cricket board - president Asif Ali Zardari - to dismiss the PCB hierarchy.
