Karachi: Pakistan on Friday recalled paceman Mohammad Asif but omitted veteran all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from their 15-man squad for next month's Champions Trophy.
Abdul Razzaq has been left out after an ordinary show in Sri Lanka where he took just four wickets from three matches.
Asif last played for Pakistan in July last year; he was banned by the Pakistan board in September after testing positive for the banned substance nandrolone. After being named in the Champions Trophy probables, Asif attended an Under-23 training camp in Karachi to assess his match fitness.
Umar Akmal, wicketkeeper Kamran's 19-year-old brother, who was Pakistan's highest scorer in the ODIs in Sri Lanka, and Imran Nazir, who made his return to international cricket after quitting the ICL, are also part of the squad along with offspinner Saeed Ajmal and allrounder Fawad Alam.
Pakistan is placed in Group A of the eight-nation Champions Trophy to be held in South Africa from September 20-October 5.
