Queenstown: Paceman Abdur Rauf took four for 43 as Pakistan dismissed a New Zealand Invitation XI for 234 on the first day of a three day tour match on Wednesday.
The right-arm fast bowler captured the wickets of former Test opener Craig Cumming (2), current New Zealand batsman Daniel Flynn (49), New Zealand's top scorer Reece Young (75) and international all-rounder Tim Southee (3) in penetrating spells during his 14.1 overs.
Allrounder Yasir Arafat took 2-21 from 10 overs, opening bowler Mohammad Asif 2-60 and leg spinner Danish Kaneria 2-102 from 29 overs as Pakistan dismissed the invitational side in 73.1 overs after its captain Grant Elliott had chosen to bat.
Wicketkeeper Young was the only New Zealand batsman to reach a half century, batting for two hours, 20 minutes and hitting seven fours and a six. Flynn batted two and a half hours for his 49, hitting three boundaries, while New Zealand test all-rounder James Franklin made 43 with four fours.
Test opener Tim McIntosh labored for 75 minutes to make 14 while international all-rounder Elliott made 3.
At stumps on Wednesday, Pakistan was 14 for one in its first innings, having lost opener Khurram Mansoor to Southee for 1. Imran Farhat was 10 not out and Fawad Alam had yet to score.
The first of three Tests between New Zealand and Pakistan begins in Dunedin on Tuesday.
