Auckland: New Zealand allrounder Jacob Oram is to undergo knee surgery, costing him a place in the Central Districts provincial cricket team which will contest next month's Champions League in South Africa.
Oram, 32, damaged a patella tendon during New Zealand's recent tour to Sri Lanka and will have a remedial operation next week, New Zealand Cricket medical staff said Friday.
His status will be monitored for four to six weeks, but it is not known how long he will take to make a complete recovery.
Oram said he was confident of regaining full fitness and being available for the limited-overs World Cup beginning in February in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
