Wellington: New Zealand has recalled Northern Districts batsman Daniel Flynn into the Test squad in place of struggling opener Rob Nicol for the final Test starting on Friday in Wellington.
Flynn has said he is ready and keen to open the batting for New Zealand against South Africa's lethal pace attack in his first test innings in 27 months.
There have been strong indications that Flynn will partner Martin Guptill at the top of the order, despite Flynn having opened just once in 29 Test innings.
In form Flynn's selection was an easy decision to make, as the Kiwi batsmen have terribly failed to tackle the deadly South African quicks through out the Test series, surrendering meekly on various occasions.
In his last five Plunket Shield innings, Flynn has scored 113 not out, 47, 68, 136, and 68 not out.
New Zealand's national selection manager, Kim Littlejohn said Flynn was likely to open, as the Black Caps try to level the series after a nine-wicket defeat inside three days in Hamilton.
