Dambulla: New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor won the toss and opted to field against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI of the tri-series at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
The match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain on Thursday.
New Zealand made three changes from the side that lost to the hosts by three wickets in their previous match.
The visitors replaced Martin Guptill, Tim Southee and Andy McKay with Peter Ingram, Jacob Oram and Grant Elliott.
Sri Lanka, who lost to India by six wickets on Monday, brought in Ajantha Mendis, Rangana Herath and Chamara Silva in place of Dilhara Fernando, Suraj Randiv and Thilan Samaraweera.
Off-spinner Randiv was banned for one match for apparently bowling a deliberate no-ball in the last game against India to leave Virender Sehwag stranded on 99.
At the end of the first half of the tri-series, New Zealand and India are on five points with one win each from two matches and a bonus point.
Sri Lanka are on four points after their opening match win over New Zealand though they did not get a bonus point from that victory.
Each side will play the other twice in the preliminary league, with the top two qualifying for the final on August 28.
