Chittagong: India have got themselves into a very strong position and reached 122/1 at the end of 22.2 overs. Gautam Gambhir and Amit Mishra were in the middle at the end, after they lost the only wicket of Virender Sehwag.
They are in a good position to go on and post a big total in this innings and put the pressure back on the home team. It's setup for an interesting two days of cricket ahead.
Earlier, Leg-spinner Amit Mishra grabbed three quick wickets to bowl out Bangladesh for 242 and give India a slender one run lead on the third day of the first test on Tuesday.
Mishra and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth picked up two wickets each in seven overs to end Bangladesh's first innings.
Bangladesh had looked set to overhaul India's total of 243 when Mahmudullah (69) and Mushfiqur Rahim (44) added 108 runs for the seventh wicket to take the score to 206.
But just as Bangladesh had suffered a top-order collapse, when they tottered on 98-6 before lunch, they lost their way again and surrendered their last four wickets for just 36 runs.
Mahmudullah, who chalked up his maiden test fifty, was dismissed after edging Sreesanth behind the stumps and two balls later Mishra ended Bangladesh's charge by forcing debutant Shafiul Islam (6) to loft the ball to Yuvraj Singh.
With Bangladesh resuming on 59-3, India grabbed three wickets in the morning after fog delayed the start for a third consecutive day.
Pace trio Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth claimed a wicket each in the session.
Mohammad Ashraful was the first to go for two, edging Sharma at first slip for Rahul Dravid to take the catch.
Shakib Al Hasan started with positive intent, striking four boundaries in quick succession before he gave Zaheer his third wicket of the innings. Sehwag held a fine catch at gully to end the innings of the Bangladesh skipper, who made 17 off 20 balls. Zaheer finished with three for 54 runs.
Sreesanth forced Raqibul Hasan to give a catch to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik after the middle-order batsman, on one overnight, reached 17.
Zaheer and Mishra both ended the day with three wickets each.
India were all out for 243 runs in their first innings with Sachin Tendulkar finishing 105 not out, his 44th test century. Shakib (5-62) and Shahadat Hossain (5-71) shared all 10 wickets in the Indian innings.
