Hobart: Cricket Australia has provided injury and illness updates on Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson for 2nd One-day on Friday's in Hobart
Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: "Mike Hussey has returned to Western Australia after surgery to reattach his damaged hamstring tendon."
"He will now undergo intensive rehabilitation over the coming weeks and how he progresses through this rehabilitation period will ultimately determine his return to cricket," he added.
As this is an unusual injury in cricket we will be closely monitoring his progress and making appropriate progressions.
As yet we have not determined a fixed time for his return to cricket training and playing. This will become clearer in the next two or three weeks.
Mitchell Johnson is suffering from a throat infection and did not make the trip to Hobart yesterday.
He has improved in the last 24 hours and is expected to meet the team in Sydney on Saturday.
He will therefore not be available for Friday's second Commonwealth Bank ODI in Hobart and will be assessed by Cricket Australia medical staff to determine his availability for Sunday's third match in Sydney.
