Melbourne: Hussey's wife Amy gave birth to the couple's fourth child three months premature, forcing the Western Australian to withdraw from the tour starting later this month.
He will be replaced by Peter Forrest.
Tragically, the Husseys have had history with premature births, after their third child Molly was born 28 weeks into the pregnancy back in 2007.
Hussey, 37, said he was staying close to family following the unexpected birth.
"Due to our baby being born three months early, it is important for the family for me to be here at this time," Hussey said in a statement.
"It is always difficult to miss any tour for Australia and I thank CA for their understanding of our family's situation."
Cricket Australia have supported Hussey's decision to stand aside for the tour, which will see Australia play six one-day internationals in total, including five against England and one with Ireland
