Guyana: Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene became only the fourth batsman to score a Twenty20 international century when he made 100 against Zimbabwe on Monday.
The veteran batsman's century, made off 63 balls, was the cornerstone of a total of 173/7 in the first innings of a World Twenty20 Group B match Sri Lanka must win to qualify for the second round after losing the tournament opener against New Zealand.
Jayawardene's hundred came just a day after India batsman Suresh Raina scored 101 in a World Twenty20 group match against South Africa in Saint Lucia.
Only West Indies' Chris Gayle and New Zealand's Brendon McCullum had previously scored hundreds at this level.
