Dubai: India's One-day & Twenty20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one Wednesday night named ODI Player of the year for 2008 by the ICC at its anuual awards ceremony here. Dashing Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh became the inaugural winner of the Twenty20 International performance of the year. Award which was given to him for the six sixes in one over during the Twenty20 World Cup 2007 played at South Africa.

West Indies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul won the Cricketer of the year award while Sri Lankan spin sensation, Ajantha Mendis, was named the Emerging Player of the Year. Ausdtralian umpire Simon Taufel was named Umpire of the Year for the fifth straight times.

South Africa bowler Dale Steyn won the Test Player of the Year, while England woman player Charlotte Edwards won the best Woman Player of the year.
