Melbourne: Former Test opener Justin Langer is all set become the batting coach of the Australian cricket team, according to a media report.
According to 'The Sunday Telegraph', Langer is tipped to become the batting coach and personal development and leadership adviser of Australia after chief coach Tim Nielsen expressed his interest in availing the left-hander's services.
The 39-year-old former left-hander also said he is open to taking up the new role.
"There's been a lot of talk about me coaching and that is an option. Hopefully there will be a lot of mentoring with young players on their way to making it to the top in a variety of sports," Langer said.
"Over the next 12 months, or next period of my life, I've got to work out whether my passion is going to be coaching, in writing more books or commentating and my public speaking and consultancy projects that I'm setting up," he said.
Langer, Australia's highest first-class run scorer with 28,382 runs from 360 games, however, refused to confirm whether he will take a permanent job with the Australian team if offered.
"I feel a responsibility to help out other people to realise their dreams and ambitions and to achieve to their maximum potential and ability," he said.
