Visakhapatnam: Virat Kohli hit 117 and Rohit Sharma was unbeaten on 90, to guide India to a 5-wicket win over West Indies to lead the series 2-0. Rampaul's all-round show (86 not out and 2/62) went in vain at VCA stadium in Vizag on Friday.

India chased down the competitive target of 270 runs with eleven balls to spare when Ravindra Jadeja (9 not out) hit a four off Andre Russell in 48.1 overs. With the victory, India took 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series.

Sharma continued his good form as he hit two sixes and seven boundaries in his unbeaten 98-ball impressive match-winning innings.

Kohli scored his 8th one-day hundred to lead the India chase with Sharma against the Windies.

Ravi Rampaul dismissed Kohli after the right-hander took India on verge of victory. Kohli hit 14 boundaries in his 123-ball brilliant knock and added a mammoth 163 runs partnership for the fourth wicket with Sharma.

Suresh Raina (0) soon followed Kohli to the pavilion without scoring as pacer Kemar Roach provided Windies a glimmer of hopes.

Kohli took 113 balls to reach the personal milestone of another century in his short career, hitting eleven boundaries and dealing mostly with smart singles.

Sharma also completed his tenth one-day fifty off 61 balls and along with Kohli they revived Indian innings after losing three wickets relatively cheaply. Sharma hit a six and five fours in his vigilant knock.

India lost Virender Sehwag (26) soon after match restarted after a rain delay.

Sehwag tried to hit a six off the first ball he faced from Marlon Samuels but was caught by Andrian Barath at the long-off boundary. Sehwag hit three fours in his sedate 35-ball innings and added 55 runs for the third wicket with Virat Kohli.

Drizzle delayed the match for more than 20 minutes but fortunately there will be no deduction of overs.

India were at 49/2 in 11.2 overs with Sehwag and Kohli batting for the hosts when rain stopped their chase against West Indies.

Chasing 270-run target, India lost Gautam Gambhir (12) and Parthiv Patel (2) early against West Indies in the second ODI of the five-match series.

After displaying his batting prowess, pacer Ravi Rampaul gave Windies a crucial breakthrough when he dismissed Gambhir in the seventh over to reduce the hosts to 29/2 in 6.4 overs.

Pacer Kemar Roach struck early to dismiss Patel in his first over to give India an early jolt in their chase.

Earlier, Rampaul (86 not out) slammed maiden one-day fifty and added a remarkable unbeaten 99-run stand for the last wicket with Kemar Roach (24 not out) to help West Indies set 270-run target for India.

Rampaul played a gem of an innings as he ended the Windies innings with a straight six - his sixth of the day - to power the visitors to 269/9 from a miserable position of 170/9 in 35.6 overs.

Rampaul's 86 off 66 balls was the highest score by a number ten batsman in one-day internationals history. The left hander smacked six sixes and an equal number of boundaries in his blitzkrieg.

Rampaul raced to his personal milestone off just 35 balls by hitting four maximums and three boundaries. Rampaul changed his gear after West Indies lost their opener Lendl Simmons (78) after a long vigil.

Simmons was run out after steering the Windies innings with a steady 78 runs off 102 balls, which included a six and eight fours.

Indian bowlers reduced the visitors to 170/9 in 35.6 overs as spinners came to the party after pacers sent back top-order batsmen cheaply and early.

Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Andre Russell (11) to reduce the visitors to 149/8 in 30.5 overs soon after he trapped Windies skipper Darren Sammy (2) lbw few overs earlier.

Ravichandran Ashwin gave India a crucial breakthrough when he dismissed dangerous Kieron Pollard (35) and broke a steady 56-run sixth wicket partnership between Pollard and Lendl Simmons.

Pollard played his usual aggressive knock off 30 balls which included two huge sixes and three hit to the fence.

Umesh Yadav and Vinay Kumar are on a roll as they removed West Indies top-order inside 17 overs and reduced the visitors to 63/5 in 16.1 overs.

Denesh Ramdin, who came to bat on after Vinay' double strike, lost his wicket when Yadav forced him to drive and ball got the top half of the bat that went to Ravindra Jadeja at backward point.

Kumar dismissed Darren Bravo and Danza Hyatt in one over to put West Indies on backfoot after Yadav struck again to give West Indies double jolt in the second one-dayer.

Yadav dismissed Marlon Samuels to reduce West Indies to 25/2 in 7.1 overs. Samuels, scored only 4, tried to work it to the on side, got a leading edge and Suresh Raina took a blinder at third slip.

Umesh got the ball to swing away from Barath and managed to get a thick edge to Parthiv Patel behind the stumps.

Earlier, Indian captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and decided to bowl against West Indies. However, a mild drizzle had delayed the toss and the covers were brought on, but was later removed.

After narrowly escaping defeat in the series opener, India would look to guard against complacency and hope for an improved showing from their batsmen on Friday.
