New Delhi: The Kolkata Knight Riders team management would meet owner Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai on Tuesday to decide on the new captain and coach for season three of the Indian Premier League.
New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum, who led the Knight Riders in their disastrous campaign in South Africa this year, is likely to be unavailable next season due to national commitments. New Zealand are to host Australia during the same time.
There were reports earlier that former India captain Sourav Ganguly is the front-runner to replace McCullum but those were denied by team owner Shah Rukh Khan last week.
The head coach of the team is also to be decided after John Buchanan was asked to leave.
Former India coach John Wright is said to be the front-runner for the post. The other contender for the post is National Cricket Academy director Dav Whatmore.
