Guyana: New Zealand staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the West Indies on Wednesday by seven runs.
Scott Styris bowled New Zealand to victory despite only two of their batsmen reaching double figures in their final warm-up match against West Indies in Guyana. West Indies appeared to be cruising in their chase of 125 as Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul put on an opening stand of 68, before they quickly lost all ten wickets for 49.
Needing just 125 runs to win, the West Indies appeared to be coasting to victory after an opening stand of 68 by Shivnarine Chanderpaul (53) and Chris Gayle (35).
But once they fell, only one other batter made double figures as the batting crumbled against Scott Styris' bowling who recorded figures of 4-18.
Earlier, New Zealand recovered from 37-6 to make 124-8 with Ross Taylor (50) and Jacob Oram (46 not out) the only players to make double figures.
