Kenya Elect to Bat Against Canada

New Delhi: Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande won the toss and elected to bat first against Canada in their World Cup Group A match at the Ferozshah Kotla in New Delhi on Monday.

The whipping boys, who have each lost all three of their matches so far, will also hope that they will be able to breach the 150-run mark for the first time in this tournament.

While Kenya have been bundled out for scores of 69, 112 and 142 -- amassing just 323 runs in their three outings -- Canada have fared little better.

The North Americans have managed 122, 123 and 138 in their matches against Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Pakistan respectively.

"Playing against Canada is definitely our best chance to win. But we have to perform well in all the departments," Kenya captain Jimmy Kamande said on Sunday.

"It has been tough for us, honestly speaking. We have not done justice to ourselves and our abilities.

"Hopefully, we can put up a good show against Canada."

Canada skipper Ashish Bagai will look to spin to notch the first points for his team.

It is probably the best chance for us to win a match in the World Cup. We had that goal coming here and hopefully we will win on Monday," Bagai told reporters.
