Colombo: India's already depleted pace attack may further get weakened as a knee inujry today rendered pacer S Sreesanth doubtful for the first Test against Sri Lanka, starting July 18 at Galle.
Sreensanth, asked to lead the pace attack in the absence of Zaheer Khan, has encountered a knee problem and missed Sunday's practice session.
Also giving a miss to the session was spin spearhead Harbhajan Singh, who is down with the fever.
Sreesanth underwent an MRI scan and result will be known only by Monday, a team source said.
Zaheer was ruled out of the Test series due to a shoulder injury and in his absence Sreesanth and lanky Ishant Sharma were to do the duty with the new ball.
In case India miss the services of Sreesanth as well, youngsters Jaidev Unadkat, who played with the India A team in England, may fancy his chances.
But India are unlikely to go with the three pacemen in the Sri Lankan conditions and Abhimanyu Mithun, replacement of Zaheer, will be first choice to fill in the slot.
India are scheduled to play a three-day warm up game against Sri Lanka Board President's XI from Tuesday.
