London: England opener Joe Denly is doubtful for the first One-Day International against Australia at the Oval on Friday after sustaining a left knee injury during practice on Thursday.
An England spokesman said that Denly sustained the injury while taking part playing football, a routine part of the team's warm-ups, at the Oval.
Denly, who top-scored with 67 on his ODI debut in the three-run win over Ireland in Belfast last Thursday, is due to have a scan later Thursday.
Friday's fixture is the first of a seven-match series. It follows the two washed-out Twenty20s at Old Trafford and England's 2-1 Ashes series victory.
