London: Australia captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat against England in the fifth and final one-day international at Lord's on Saturday.
Michael Clarke pulled out due to overnight back soreness. Clarke's place was taken by Shaun Marsh, who came in for his first ODI since early February, and it was the only change to Australia's winning line-up from The Oval.
The problem with Clarke's back could open the door for Cameron White to captain Australia's Twenty20 side for the first time when they take on Pakistan on Monday.
White is the vice-captain and would be a capable replacement, although there was still a chance Clarke could be ruled fit for the Twenty20 against Pakistan at Edgbaston.
