Karachi: Resumption of the Indo-Pak bilateral series could soon be a reality with PCB chairman Ijaz Butt promising that people would very soon hear some good news regarding cricketing ties with India.
"I can't say much right now but definitely there will soon be some good news for everyone," Butt told the "Express" daily newspaper.
Butt is said to have held meetings with the new ICC President Sharad Pawar and Indian cricket Board officials in Singapore on the sidelines of the ICC and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meetings earlier this week.
After being elected as the ICC President on Thursday, Pawar had also said that he would try to convince the Indian government to allow resumption of Indo-Pak cricket ties which was suspended after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.
Pakistan supported India's stance of not approving the nomination of former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard for the post of ICC Vice-President in Singapore.
The PCB stance has drawn some sharp flak from some former players and also the former President of the ICC, Ehsan Mani who said Pakistan should not have gone along with India.
"I don't know what Pakistan is going to get out of siding with India because there is no doubt India has tried to isolate us as a cricket playing nation and they were behind the 2011 World Cup matches being moved from Pakistan.
"They didn't even allow us to host our share of matches at a neutral venue. So I don't know why we went along with India, I don't think we should have done this," He said.
Former captain Zaheer Abbas has also been critical of Pakistan's stance of supporting India on the Howard issue.
The refusal of Pakistan to support Howard also led to a strong outburst from former ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed, who called Butt a "buffoon".
"I am really disappointed at the remarks made by Speed which were derogatory to say the least," Butt said.
"I don't want to say more on this issue but definitely I will be consulting my friends and lawyers when I return to Lahore on Sunday. I have several options available to me and I will explore all of them," he added.
