Johannesburg: India won the Under-19 tri-series on the basis of points after their summit clash against hosts South Africa was washed out without a ball being bowled.
India finished the tournament, also involving Sri Lanka, with thirteen points, way ahead of South Africa (6) and the islanders (5).
The Ashok Menaria-led side defeated Sri Lanka twice and South Africa once in the league matches before their second league game against the home team, prior to the final, was also washed out.
Pacer Saurabh Netrawalkar was adjudged player-of-the-series for his consistency with the new ball.
Netrawalkar's best performance came in the second league match against Sri Lanka, where he returned with figures of 5-26 to bundle out the opposition for a paltry 52.
India will now head straight to New Zealand to defend their ICC Under-19 World Cup title to be held in the Kiwi land from January 15 to 30.
The Indian colts will take on a lowly Afghanistan Under-19 side in the tournament opener in Lincoln on January 15.
