India Thrashes Sri Lanka Once Again, Takes Led 2-0

Colombo: India is on a winning spree, winning 7 matches in a row in 2 here in srilanka and 5 matches against England.

India gave a good start to the series by having 2-0 lead over the Srilankans. Its  a allround performance by Indian batsmen and bowlers. Only one half century was scred in the Indian Innings (Yuvraj Singh 66), and a low target of 257 runs was given to the Srilankans, it seemed they will easily  get it but Ishant Sharma (4 wickets for 57 runs) and our fielding proved to be fatal for Sri Lanka.

Srilanka had a poor start with 3 wickets at 36 runs. SHT Kandamby played brilliantly 93 not out and played 2 nice partnerships with Jayawardene (52 runs) and Kapugedera (31 runs).

Murlitharan, Kulasekara and Mendis ran themselves out towards the closing stages of the innings while the lone fighter Thilina Kandamby, who remained unbeaten on 93 missed a well-deserved ton, held the fort from other end as he fell short of partners.

Sri Lanka lost their seventh wicket in the form of Tushara after he mistimed Ishant's delivery to give an easy catch to Yusuf Pathan.

Earlier, Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first after leading his side to a clinical all-round six-wicket win in the first ODI to take the 1-0 lead in the five match series.

Indian tail tried their hard towards the end of the innings but didn't succeed to put up a menacing total against Sri Lanka in the second One-Day International.

Praveen Kumar (15) and Zaheer Khan (17) got out on successive deliveries in the final over while trying for a big heave against Mendis as unlucky India had to settle for the score of 256/9 in their stipulated 50 overs after some consistent bowling display by Lankan bowlers in unison.

Yuvraj Singh was the top scorer with 66 while Virender Sehwag made 42. Nuwan Kulasekara, Farveez Maharoof and Ajantha Mendis picked up two wickets each.

Brief Score: India 256/9 (Yuvraj 66) beat Sri Lanka 241 (Kandamby 93*, Jayawardene 52, Ishant 4-57) by 15 runs
