Bangalore: The Indians are not T20 World Champions for nothing. They were greatly dis-advantage when two rain interruptions saw the fourth ODI here suddenly reduced to a 22-overs a side affair, but they still came up with the goods to record their fourth straight victory and with that grab the seven match series 4-0.
The Indians were sailing along at 106 for one after 17 overs when the match was shortened but if they were hurt, you couldn't tell by their body Language. With the shortened match came the longest hits. Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan joined the party begun by Virender Sehwag. Each of the first named trio slammed the first ball they played for six to put up a healthy total of 166 for four.
The target itself, thanks to the strange ways of Messrs Duck-worth and Lewis, swelled to 198, an asking rate of 9 runs per over. All a bi too much for England as they went down by 19-runs despite some lusty hitting by Owais Shah 72 (48b, 9x4, 3x6) and Andrew Flintoff 41 (30b, 3x4, 1x6).
The Indian batting, led by Sehwag 69 (57b, 9x4, 3x6) may have set up the win but the bowlers deserve credit too. Yuvraj Singh hits 25 runs just 11 balls with help of three long sixes. For England GP Swann took two wickets of Sehwag and Gambhir, while Stuart Broad bowled out of Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni bowled by Samit Patel. Very good bowling Indian fast bowlers led by Zaheer Khan. Each seamers took two wickets, while one wicket to go for Harbhajan Singh of Ian Bell.
Brief Score: India 166 for 4 (Sehwag 69, Gambhir 40) beat England 178 for 8 (Shah 72, Flintoff 41) by 19 runs (D/L method)
