India Thrash England By 158 Runs at Rajkot

Rajkot: Thanks to half-centuries from the openers and a majestic ton by Yuvraj 138 (78b, 16x4, 6x6), the Indian batsmen toyed around the English attack to post a massive total in their alloted quota of 50 overs. For England Steve Harmison and spinner Samit Patel took two wickets each.

India off to a solid start. Openers Virender Sehwag 85 (73b, 10x4, 3x6) and Gautam Gambhir 51 have given Team India a steady start in the first One-Day International against England. Earlier, England won the toss and asked India to bat first.

After giving India a flying start, both Sehwag and Gambhir fell to the spinner after scoring half-centuries in the first ODI against England. India lost the wickets of Raina and Yusuf Pathan to the English seamers, after Raina and Yuvraj toyed around the England bowlers.

Yuvraj Singh scored a majestic unbeaten hundred to power India past the 300 run mark in the first ODI at Rajkot.

• India's 51 boundaries, consisting of 13 sixes and 38 fours beat the previous record of 48, against Bermuda in the 2007 World Cup in West Indies.
• 138* Yuvraj Singh is the highest score by an Indian against England. Navjot Singh Sidhu with an unbeaten 134 at Gwalior in 1993, held the previous record.
