New Delhi: The ODI squad remained unchanged for the remainder of the series against England which meant Harbhajan Singh was again ignored by selectors.
Harbhajan Singh failed to make a comeback as the national selection committee retained the same squad for the remaining three one-dayers against England following a meeting at the Kotla on Monday. With young spinners like R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who also is a decent bat, doing a good job against England in this home series, the snub is a clear sign to the senior offie to grind it out in the domestic circuit and regain form and fitness.
Harbhajan had a torrid time in England recently before he came back home following an abdominal strain midway through the tour. He appeared to be gradually getting back to wicket-taking ways in the Champions League T20, in which he led Mumbai Indians to victory.
The T20 game on Oct 29th, though, sees changes with the out-of-favour Yusuf Pathan coming in and Robin Uthappa getting another chance to display his batting pyrotechnics following an impressive Challenger Trophy. Gautam Gambhir, meanwhile, has asked for a break to get married.
Squad for ODIs: MS Dhoni (captain and wicketkeeper), Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Manoj Tiwary, Varun Aaron, Rahul Sharma, S Arvind
Squad T20 International: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain and wk), Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Manoj Tiwary, Varun Aaron, Robin Uthappa, Rahul Sharma, S Arvind.
