Brisbane: India A team encountered mixed results in the Emerging Players' Meet on Wednesday after winning by six runs against Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and losing by four wickets against South African Emerging squad.
India started off on a disastrous note losing the opening match of the day against South Africa.
Batting first, India scored 156 for six in their 20 overs and South Africa managed to win courtesy Temba Bavuma who smashed 57 off only 31 deliveries. South Africa scored the winning runs off the last ball of the match.
S Aniruddha top-scored with 45 off 33 balls with six boundaries and two sixes. Jharkhand lad Saurabh Tiwary was the other contributor with 40 off 32 balls with one boundary and four sixes. The South Africans won because of Bavuma's late burst as he hit four huge sixes. Jaidev Unadkat was the most successful bowler with three wickets.
The Indians however came back strongly during their evening match when they defeated AIS by six runs. The Indians managed 151 from 19.3 overs after opting to bat.
Manoj Tiwary who was the hero in India's victory against New Zealand again top-scored with 36 from 23 balls with two fours and two sixes.
In reply, AIS were all-out for 145 in 19.5 overs. Left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla and pacer R Vinay Kumar picked three wickets apiece. India have two wins from three matches.
