Kochi: Sunday's One-Day International match between India and Australia faces a sticky wicket as heavy downpour forced the Australian team to cancel their Friday morning's practice session.
Even as super-soapers were working over-time to drain out the water, a portion the outfield was still clogged and soggy.
According to the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), the plan was to do the final rolling of the outfield Friday to make the ground ready but now it might happen only Saturday morning.
Despite the rain fury, the ticket sales have been encouraging.
"Come rain or sunshine, we have decided we will be there to see the match as this is just the seventh time in the last 12 years that Kochi is hosting an ODI," said cricket enthusiast Praveen Kurian, who works in Bangalore and is in Kochi for the weekend.
"One or two showers and even a thunder shower is expected Saturday," a Met official said.
