ICC Postpones WADA Meeting to October

Mumbai: Haroon Lorgat, the ICC president, has announced that the meeting to discuss the Indian players' objections to the contentious 'whereabouts' clause in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code has been postponed to next month.

"The matter would go to the Executive Board in October," Lorgat revealed on the sidelines of a function to announce the ICC annual awards.

The world governing council had convened a special two-day meeting on September 5 and 6 in Dubai to sort out the contentious issue after some top Indian cricketers, including Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, refused to sign the clause which makes it mandatory for players to inform their daily programme three months in advance to the drug-testing authorities.

The players said signing the clause would infringe their privacy and it was also a threat to their security. The BCCI backed the players' stance.
