ICC Hints at Compromise with BCCI Over WADA Clause

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has hinted at compromise with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over World Anti-Doping Agency's whereabouts clause.

ICC cricket manager Dave Richardson hinted at the compromise with BCCI which refused to accept 'whereabouts' clause on safety grounds.

ICC said that that 'whereabouts' clause is important on some grounds.

Last month, BCCI had said that it would continue seeking an amendment to the clause despite its own government backing the rule.

BCCI in August backed its players' refusal to sign up, citing security and privacy issues to oppose the clause requiring them to nominate a time for every day of the year when they will be available for testing.

India's sports ministry has reiterated its commitment to the global anti-doping laws after being contacted by WADA over the BCCI stand.

Cricket's governing body became a WADA signatory in 2006 and last year unanimously approved out-of-competition tests on players in accordance with amendments made to the code.
