Harris Spins England Into First Test Trouble

Centurion: Paul Harris took five wickets as South Africa reduced England to 356 on Friday, with Swann career best half-century the only positive note for the tourists. South Africa were 9/1, take 71-runs lead.

Harris claimed five for 123 to leave England in trouble on day three of the first test, trailing South Africa's first innings total of 418 by 62 runs.

One stage England their eight wickets only on 242, but Swann (85) and Anderson (29) added 106-runs for night wicket.

Fast bowler Morne Morkel got Kevin Pietersen (40) driving loosely and edging the ball back into the stumps to start the collapse shortly after lunch.

Ian Bell scored just five before he bizarrely shouldered arms and was bowled by left-armer Harris.

Matt Prior found the conditions extremely difficult as he scored four runs in 44 minutes before sweeping at Harris and top-edging the ball to deep backward square.

Collingwood looked in control as he went to his half-century by sweeping Harris for four but the next delivery found the edge and went to slip, dismissing him for 50.

Earlier, Makhaya Ntini and Harris had taken a wicket apiece as England struggled to 143 for three at lunch, from their overnight score of 88 for one.
