Harare: Martin Guptill smashed 105 to steer New Zealand to a four-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the second one day international on Saturday.
Guptill faced 121 balls and cracked nine boundaries as the Kiwis overhauled Zimbabwe's total of 259/8 to clinch the three-match ODI series.
New Zealand finished on 261 for 6 off 48.2 overs.
Guptill put on a 157-run second wicket partnership with Brendon McCullum (87), aided by dropped catches from Zimbabwe.
New Zealand, for the most part, were clinical on either side of Taylor's century and secured the series 2-0 with one to play. Their disciplined seam attack forced a cautious start from Zimbabwe after which the increasing pressure to score yielded several wickets and allowed them only 259 despite Taylor's strong finish. New
Earlier, Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor scored an undefeated 107 to become the first Zimbabwean to score back-to-back hundreds in international cricket.
Zimbabwe's fightback was launched in the 28th over, when Taylor swung James Franklin over the long-on boundary for the innings' first six. He had the plucky Waller for a sidekick. The surge came against Nicol, who bowled innocuous offbreaks and conceded 17 in the 30th over. Waller drove through the offside and slog-swept for fours. So did Taylor.
